monday, june 14

my family has learned that we cannot go anywhere altogether without a lot of laughs and a lot of noise to those around us. after spending the night with my grandmother, we met up with everyone else (my mom, rachel, tyler, my aunt, wesley, & hannah) for lunch. we even got the waitress to assist us in our impromptu photoshoot. never a dull moment with this bunch :)

sunday, june 13

i had the privilege of spending the night at my grandmother's house during my stay in alabama. we enjoyed some good catch up time...lots of laughs and storytelling. we went around the corner to my aunt and uncle's house too to spend some time with them before we all went to bed. the next day, she let me sleep way too late but said she figured i needed the rest. because she is a grandmother, she was probably right. she is just an awesome lady like that.

while i was there, we got to watch four little baby birds and their mama right outside her front door. these little birds could not have been more than a few days old...they could not even close their mouths! too cute! the mama bird was not at all happy at the slightest sound of us coming toward her babies...inside or outside the house!

saturday, june 12

we took in a montgomery biscuits minor league baseball game. we enjoyed a win in extra innings against the birmingham barons and a fireworks show. in the process of the fireworks show, i learned how to change the settings on my camera and really capture the fireworks well.

friday, june 11

while in alabama, i began noticing that some things can only be found in alabama where pride for one's favorite sports team is often taken to an entirely new level. be sure to look closely at all that team spirit. this is one passionate dude...or dudette?

thursday, june 10

my aunt beth and cousins, wesley and hannah, came over to swim. my parents were so awesome to put a pool in the backyard years ago, and it is so nice to enjoy on a hot alabama summer day. i bought a watermelon from a fruit stand, and they informed me that we could let the watermelon float around in the pool with us since we were going swimming. we all laughed about it, but what did we do later? we put the watermelon in the pool. for reasons i cannot remember now, i felt the need to be sure it was very visible as we took pictures with it in the pool. (for all my non-alabama readers, i am expecting big laughs right about now)

wednesday, june 9

i ventured to tuscaloosa today for a doctor's appointment and visits with friends. i so enjoy visiting tuscaloosa whenever we get the chance. i am so grateful for the relationships made there and how much my time and the people in tuscaloosa have influenced my life. the city will always have a special place in my heart not only because it is where i went to school and the team i passionately cheer for, but tuscaloosa is where we got engaged and the first place we ever lived as a married couple. when lee and i go together, we always drive by our old apartment. i also always have to see campus and denny chimes.

rachel, tyler, and i went to mcalister's for lunch today. contrary to the looks on their faces, i think they were generally happy with going to lunch with me. i think...

monday, june 7

sorry, but no picture today. lee flew to san francisco, and it began our two weeks apart so nothing worth photographing in that.

pool time in ruston, la.

emma and joe devised a game where they would lay on the side of the pool like so, and then just heave themselves into the pool, make a big splash, laugh, and do it again.
